Overview
This is a concept for a National Gallery of Art exhibition for Aubrey Vincent Beardsley who was an English illustrator and author in the late 1800's. His artwork made significant contributions to the development of the Art Nouveau movement. His black ink drawings depicted the grotesque, the decadent, and the erotic. Therefore, the exhibitions theme is centered around "Decadence."
I used the pen tool in Illustrator to make a vector version of one of Aubrey Beardsley's flower illustrations. I made black and white versions of it to use as the recurring motif in all of the following applications.
Postcards
Brochure
Pole Banners
Landscape Banner
All pieces were made in Illustrator with a few assets being edited in Photoshop as needed. Creating promotional material for a museum exhibition taught me how to ultilize a single asset in multiple different ways to create a cohesive yet distinct design among the different applications. This project also allowed me to explore working in the purely black and white range.
