Overview
Barrett Polytechnic consists of the honor students of Arizona State University’s Polytechnic campus. Each year, the campus is growing and its events are growing along with it. In particular, Barrett Polytechnic works very hard to make engaging events for its honor students to enjoy. Every end of the spring semester, Barrett Polytechnic holds their Gold Standard Awards where they pass out photobooks of the academic year’s memories for students and faculty to walk down memory lane together. Students and faculty can also sign a photo board featuring some of the year’s best photos and take a copy of the program detailing the night’s awards. Each year follows a specific theme which is reflected in the event materials while staying within ASU’s brand guidelines.
2023 Gold Standard Awards
I gathered the best photos for each featured event and prepared each for print in Photoshop. Keeping them all organized in their own folders, I arranged each of them on their appropriate pages in InDesign and designed the spreads around them. I gathered icons, patterns, and fonts part of the ASU brand that would best fit the designs of each photo book. After setting up the photo books, I selected the photos to be featured on the photo board which was designed in Illustrator. The program is created with placeholders until the nominee and award information are finalized. In one on ones with my supervisor, I would get detailed feedback on my current progress until each item was approved for printing.
2024 Gold Standard Awards
For 2024, the photobook and photo board were designed based on the 90's theme used for the 2024 Pride Prom promotional materials. The 2024 program was kept in the gold and black theme of the overall awards ceremony to easily update its nominee and award information for the upcoming years.
Results
The photobooks were given out to Barrett Polytechnic students at both the 2023 and 2024 Gold Standard Awards. Students enjoyed seeing their memories all in one place and being able to exchange signatures on both the photo books and the photo boards.
